Morrison Construction projects were among those singled out for the plaudits at the Scottish Design Awards, with a winner and two commendations in the Education category, further highlighting the business’s impressive track record in schools building.

Barony Campus, designed by architects Sheppard Robson, was chosen as one of the winners of the Education category for the fantastic new facilities which bring together five schools into one consolidated campus, accommodating approximately 2,400 pupils across early years, primary and secondary education.

The buildings boast strong sustainability credentials with a dedicated biomass energy centre, and the extensive use of rooftop Photo Voltaic (PV)  panels. Each school retains its own identity within the campus, while remaining interconnected, allowing for both pupils of different age groups to remain separate and the wider community to access local support facilities.

Meanwhile, fellow Morrison Construction project Ayr Grammar, designed by BDP, received a commendation in the same category, as did Dunoon Primary School, designed by Ryder Architecture.

Eddie Roberston, Managing Director for Morrison Construction Building Central, commented: “All three projects have been great for our teams to be involved with and we congratulate all the stakeholders involved, and, in particular, the design teams, for this success.

“Barony Campus is a fantastic building bringing together so many important facilities for the local community under one area, and we are delighted that it has been recognised in this way.”
