Galliford Try has appointed Carol Hardingham as its new Head of Environmental, a pivotal role in the delivery of the Group’s Sustainable Growth Strategy.

In her new role, Carol will be charged with managing the Group’s environmental performance and continual assessment, management and control of environmental considerations across our activities in relation to the natural environment and local communities.

Carol, who is a Chartered Environmentalist and Full Member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) joins from Skanska where she was Sector Sustainability Manager, and has also previously worked for Costain.

Commenting on her appointment, Mike Webb, HS&E Director for Galliford Try, said: “Climate change and environmental protection are among the greatest challenges we face, both as a society and a business, and we have a key part to play through minimising the environmental impact and carbon footprint of our operations. Carol will build on the excellent work we have done so far, collaborating with all parts of our business to build further momentum across this important area. I am delighted to welcome Carol to her new role and look forward to working together.”

Carol added: “Galliford Try has some really exciting environmental ambitions so I’m delighted to be starting in my new role as Head of Environmental and am very excited to see how we develop in this important area.”

Last year, the Group announced its commitment to achieving net zero carbon across its own operations by 2030, and across all activities by 2045 at the latest. This is the most recent of its environment-related appointments, having appointed a new Sustainability Director and Low Carbon Manager last year.
