Hannah Timkey and Tom Foy, from Galliford Try’s Highways business, were among those lauded at this year’s Highways Heroes Awards.

The awards aim to recognise individuals across the UK’s highways sector for exceptional personal effort and impact. This marks the second year running where members of Galliford Try’s Highways team have been celebrated.

Hannah and Tom both received their respective awards for striving to improve the wellbeing of their fellow team members. Hannah has concentrated on women’s health issues, raising awareness of the impact of menopause on the individual, their home and work life, and the importance of people being able to talk about this openly, as well as introducing the business to the Binnybin sanitary bin initiative.

Tom invited industry colleagues to join him on an expedition to climb Mount Snowdon, using the opportunity to discuss mental health issues and raise awareness, he also instituted a wellbeing Wednesday on site, allowing people the space to talk about issues that may be affecting them.

David Lowery, Managing Director for Galliford Try’s Highways business, commented: “I speak for the entire business when I say we are all incredibly proud of Hannah and Tom for the fantastic and well-deserved recognition they received at this year’s Highways Heroes Awards. It takes great courage to strive to make a difference to people’s lives, particularly to talk about wellbeing issues, and I hope their achievement serves to inspire more people in the business to drive positive change across our business, wider industry and the communities in which we work."
